Description

Project Location: The Aluto Langano Geothermal site is located in Oromia Region about 200km south away from Addis Ababa. The nearest towns are Adami Tulu 13km, Zeway 20km and 13km away from the main Addis Ababa Hawassa high way. The resource area is located at an elevation between 1880 and 2100 meters.
Project Objective: The objective of this project is indicated as follows, To drill 4 production wells, To prepare for further construction of a 70MW capacity Geothermal Power Plant, To contribute towards the Corporation Generation mix plant, To alleviate the power shortage.
Schedule of Implementation: The 2nd phase project is planned to be completed at the end of 2013 and the 3rd phase planned to be completed at the end of 2016.

The estimated total cost of 35-70 MW geothermal power plant project in Aluto Langano field (Third Phase) is US$ 350,000,000. The estimated cost includes the following items: drilling of production and reinjection wells, FCRS construction, power plant construction, T/L and substation construction, engineering service, administration cost, physical contingency and interest during construction. There is no resettlement cost.
